Nintendo E3 2018 Wrap-Up

Hi guys, today we will summarise all the announcements made in the 45 minute Nintendo Direct where Nintendo announces all of its upcoming game releases. However, they seem to take a conservative approach in their game announcements as most of the direct is taken up for one game.

If you missed the Nintendo direct, you may re-watch it here:

So let’s go over the game announcements made by Nintendo earlier as well as some highlights:

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Torna ~ The Golden Country

I assume this is the new story that is slated for release later in the Fall which looks interesting as more adventures await us as well as adds replay value to the game. Yes, I did purchase the Expansion Pass a while back so I will be doing a gameplay video for this particular new story mode.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Let’s Go, Eevee! & Pokéball Plus

Nothing new here as this game was announced much earlier at a special press Pokemon Press conference in Japan. Overall, they just announced a couple of new Pokemon you can acquire upon the release of the game on November 16, 2018. So far, I’m undecided whether or not to pick up this game or not the gameplay experience is not your typical Pokemon adventure however its more towards Pokemon GO style of gameplay.

Fire Emblem Three Houses

After we got a Dynastry Warrior themed Fire Emblem Series game for the Switch, we are now presented with a full RPG for the Nintendo Switch. The game takes place in Fódlan, where the Church of Seiros exercises great power over the land and its people. Similar to other Fire Emblem games, the game emphasises on turn-based battle strategies against foes in order to be victorious.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

This was basically the main highlight of the Nintendo Direct. As the same suggests, it brings all the characters from previous Super Smash Bros games as well as adding a couple of new Super Smash Bros fighters from Splatoon and Metroid series. This release is similar to Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition for the Switch which brings all content from previous consoles to the Switch while adding a few more add-ons.

Games brought over from other platforms as well as other Games:

  • Super Mario Party
  • Fortnite
  • DAEMON X MACHINA
  • Overcooked 2
  • Killer Queen Black
  • Hollow Knight
  • Octopath Traveler

Overall, it feels that Nintendo still has more to offer throughout the year. Therefore, it will not come as a surprise if more games are announced later down the road. So which game are you picking up for your Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comments below.
