Fall Season Anime 2020 Reviews

Hi everyone. As we are nearing the Winter Season 2021, I must say that the Fall Season for 2020 was probably the most busiest season for anime as we had a lot of anime simulcasts airing which I had difficulty keeping up at first. In the end, I did manage to hang in there and join in all the simulcasts. Without further delay, let’s get down to the review which will be updated as the last episode for each simulcast airs. Also, my list for Winter Season simulcast will be released later next week.

How will this brief review work? I will rate both the Japanese Dub and English Dub(If any) on a scale of 1 to 10. Afterwards, I will provide a brief review and few comments regarding the shows based on the rating given.

Fire Force Season 2

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: 7/10
Overall Review/Comments: This show packs the punch as expected with every shounen anime released. Character development was solid. Overall its a solid show with good pacing given is genre. The VAs for both the Japanese and English were on par with the spirit of the show. Highly recommended for those into shounen type anime.

Haikyu!!: To the Top (Season 4)

Japanese Dub: 9/10
English Dub: /10
Overall Review/Comments: This series has proven itself again why its the best volleyball anime series of all time. This season was no exception, they really went all out for the national competition. Character development was solid throughout the season. The pacing was also perfect thus keeping the viewer engaged throughout the tournament. Overall, among the best sport anime produced so far.

Golden Kamuy Season 3

Japanese Dub: 7.5/10
English Dub: 7/10
Overall Review/Comments: Overall another good season for this series. The character development so far was ok as we learn more about “treasure”. However for someone who has followed along since the 1st season, it feels like they are dragging the story a bit too far with little progression with every season.

Ikebukuro West Gate Park

Japanese Dub: 8/10
English Dub: /10
Overall Review/Comments: The life depictions in this anime can easily be related to our own lives. The character development was mostly on Makoto, the main character for this anime while the rest of the other characters receive very little or no development. The overall storyline was good, concise and somewhat easy to follow along. Overall, good anime for those looking to reflect their own self.

Akudama Drive

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: 7/10
Overall Review/Comments: This show is kinda an odd one in my opinion. Overall, the show lacks in overall character development where a viewer is unlikely bond to any of the characters throughout the series. The overall storyline pacing is considered ok and the science fiction portrayed in this show gives some meaning to the overall viewing experience but lacks explanation for the certain elements in the show. The ending is quite odd which may confuse a lot of the audience and may require them to read the source material(manga/light novel/video game)(if any) to get a better understanding. A great show nonetheless if you are into the science fiction elements of the show.

A3! Season Autumn and Winter

Japanese Dub: 9/10
English Dub: /10
Overall Review/Comments: This show probably one of my favourites for this season simply because I have an eye for theater performances. Overall, the characters development was ok although I felt it was more directed towards the troupe leader of each troupe. One good example for a character which lacks character development is Hisoka from the Winter troupe. I’m sure a lot of the viewers are dying to know where he came from and how he ended up at Mankai company besides just showing him laying there but that was never revealed anywhere in the series. Overall storyline pacing is very good with all the ups and downs for each troupe which will keep the viewer very engaged till the end. A must watch show if you are into theater performances.

Magatsu Wahrheit: Zuerst

Japanese Dub: 8/10
English Dub: /10
Overall Review/Comments: This show is also another odd one. The first thing that caught my attention was the artwork looks somewhat similar to Attack on Titan. Overall, the character development was minimal at best with the main focus being on Innumael and Leocadio which is very noticeable throughout the series. Overall storyline pacing was good with minimal explanations for the elements in the series which can leave big question mark in viewer’s mind especially when the series ended with a cliffhanger. A good show to watch if you are into magic/fantasy anime.

Noblesse

Japanese Dub: 8/10
English Dub: 8/10
Overall Review/Comments: This show is a unique and not because its a webtoon adaption. At first, I thought it was the usual vampire vs human kind of anime but as the episodes progressed, that was not the case even though some of the characters look like vampires. Overall, the character development was sporadic at best with the main focus being on Raizel. Overall the storyline pacing is good with lots of ups and down moments which keeps the viewers engaged especially during Raizel’s funny moments(“Seriously, you will have a good laugh at his funny moments”). A good show to watch if you are into supernatural kind of shows.
