Summer Season Anime 2024 Reviews

Hi everyone. Another season is almost coming to a close and with it a lot of great simulcasts that we took a look at during that time. Also, I will try to release my list for Fall 2024 Season simulcast selections in the coming days

What are the changes made to the review process? I will rate both the Japanese Dub and English Dub(If any) on a scale of 1 to 10 as usual. Afterwards, I will provide brief comments(If any) regarding the shows based on the rating given. The simulcasts are arranged based on their final episode simulcast date.

Bye Bye, Earth:

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: 7/10
Comments(If any): Not sure where to start with this as show felt a bit odd at first. However it is not necessary a bad thing as it takes a few rewatches in order to fully understand the story. Overall, the story was good but nothing really stands out due to the confusing elements used in the story. The character development was ok as it centers mostly around Belle and Adonis as they continue to grow while trying to break the current status quo. Overall its a good show for those who like a concise adventure/romance like show. Let’s see what they will bring in the 2nd season which was confirmed after the final episode aired.

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian:

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: 7/10
Comments(If any): This show feels like your average romance comedy with a hint of Russian speaking characters to the mix. The story was not bad as we see Alya and Kuze face challenges throughout their high school years as their relationship continues to grow. The character development was also good as we saw how Kuze influences the other schoolmate’s development as he overcomes challenges with his partner, Alya. Overall its a good show if you are into romantic high school comedy. Can’t wait to see what they will bring in their now confirmed 2nd season.

Twilight Out of Focus:

Japanese Dub: 9/10
English Dub: 9/10
Comments(If any): This is probably one of the best shows in the BL genre so far as the adaptation was on par with the manga and the among the only series where it covers not just one BL partner but three BL partner. The story was excellent as we saw the relationship for all 3 Bl partners as well as the challenges faced as their relationship continues to grow. The character development was also excellent but mostly centered around Mao and Hisashi where we see both of them trying to overcome their own challenges in their quest to be together forever. Overall its an excellent show for those who are into the BL genre. Hopefully we get to see another season once more volumes of the manga are released.

Dahlia in Bloom: Crafting a Fresh Start with Magical Tools:

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: /10
Comments(If any): When I first started this series, I though this was going to be your typical romance show. However as the show progressed, it seemed like they were more focused on Dahlia’s ambition to becoming a better artificer than her dad with romance taking a back seat. Although there is nothing wrong with the story it does make this series stand out less when compared to the other romance shows out there. The character development was good as we saw Dahlia continue to grow as she works on her artificer skills while learning to socialise with others as well as making connections. Overall its a good show for those who want a laid back romance show.

Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf:

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: 7/10
Comments(If any): When I first saw this series, it closely resembles Frieren since it involves a group of adventurers learning more about the world with each town/city visit. The story was good as we got to see all the challenges faced by Holo and Lawrence as they travel together as well as meeting new people. The character development was also good as we got to see Lawrence and Holo relationship continue to grow as they work together overcome the challenges faced during their long journey. Overall its a good show for those looking for a long winding adventure. Can’t wait to see what they will bring for their next season.

No Longer Allowed In Another World:

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: 7/10
Comments(If any): When I first saw this, I thought it was just your run of the mill Isekai where the main character gets summoned to another world and defeat the villain. However this is not the case as the main character ends up sending other people that were previously summoned back to their world. The story was good as we get to see Dazai’s journey as he tries to find his partner whom he suspects was also summoned to the same flow he is in . The character development was also good as we get to see Dazai continue to grow as he overcome challenges that came his way. Overall its a good show for those who want different take on the Isekai genre. Can’t wait to see his journey continue if a 2nd season is green lit.

Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything With Low-Level Spells:

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: /10
Comments(If any): This definitely feels like your typical Isekai where the only difference is the main character is isolated from the others for being too “weak” thus begins his journey of revenge in order to prove himself worthy. Unfortunately, the story felt incomplete as it felt like some elements of the storyline were left out leading to slight confusion as his journey progresses. The character development was ok as we get to see Mimori gain allies and grow stronger as he overcomes challenges in his quest to get his revenge. Overall its a good show for those who are into Isekai. Not sure if this will get a 2nd season to continue the story.

Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World?:

Japanese Dub: 8/10
English Dub: 8/10
Comments(If any): When I first read the title, I thought it was going to be your typical I got dragged into this alternate world but that is not the case with this show as its more towards its the same world but had its past and present overwritten by some unknown force. The story was excellent as we get to see Kai’s journey as he tries to sort out the mess caused by the world reincarnation as well as getting to the bottom of it. The character development was also excellent as we got to see both Kai and Rinne grow as they meet new allies as well as overcoming challenges in their quest to restore the current world to its previous state. Hopefully there will be a 2nd season to continue the story as it doesn’t seem to have a proper closure which indicates there is more to come.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword:

Japanese Dub: 9/10
English Dub: 9/10
Comments(If any): This is by far one of my favourite shows for this season as it stands out from the rest of the shows. The story was excellent as we got to see Will journey through life in his attempt to become the Magic Vader. The character development was also excellent as we got to see Will’s growth as he overcomes the challenges faced. Overall its an excellent show if you are into action and adventure type of shows. Can’t wait to see what they will bring for their 2nd season.

ATRI -My Dear Moments-:

Japanese Dub: 8/10
English Dub: /10
Comments(If any): At first I had no idea what this show was about as it looked like your average guy living together with a robot that he discovered from one of the salvage hunts. However it turns out the story goes far and beyond that thus it really hit me when I saw the last episode where everything made sense. The story was excellent as we see Natsuki life slowly changing after he discovered a robot left by his grandmother during one of his salvage operation. The character development was also excellent as we got to see Natsuki grow as he met more people as well as uncover more secrets about Atri which ultimately led to those moments at the end. Overall its an excellent show for those who are into romance shows but in a more subtle way.

Mission: Yozakura Family:

Japanese Dub: 8/10
English Dub: 8/10
Comments(If any): When I first saw this show, I thought it was going to be like Spy X Family however as the story progressed, I can tell they are not the same. The story was excellent as we can see Taiyo overcoming the loss from his entire family by living with the Yozakura family after Mutsumi took him in and from there he learn the ways of being a spy. The character development was excellent as we got to see Taiyo continue to grow as he overcame the challenges after began his life as a spy for the Yozakura family. Overall its an excellent show for those who are into detective, shounen and comedy like shows. Can’t wait to see what they will bring in the next season which has been confirmed.

My Hero Academia Season 7:

Japanese Dub: 8/10
English Dub: 8/10
Comments(If any): Not sure how to put it, but I can definitely be certain that they definitely delivered with this season as we continue to see battle between the Heroes and the League of Villains unfold. The story was excellent as we got to see more challenges faced by the Heroes as they take on the League of Villains despite the odds being stacked against them. The character development was excellent as we got to see almost every character grow as they overcame the challenges during their battle. Overall its an excellent show for those who are into action and heroism. Can’t wait to see what they will bring in their upcoming final season which has been confirmed for 2025.

Delico’s Nursery:

Japanese Dub: 7/10
English Dub: 7/10
Comments(If any): Not sure how to describe it, but I thought there was going to be a lot of action and mystery involving vampires with this series. Unfortunately, it was just an average show where the story focuses on Dali and his friends as they solve cases of vampire murders caused by members of Pendulum while raising their children. The character development was good as we see some character growth in Dali and his friends as well as their children. Overall its a good show if you are into shows involving vampire with a mix of childcare and family.
